Projects
Thermal oxidation of ventilation air methane in a reverse-flow reactor with heat regeneration and recovery (R14 020 02)
Duration: 2007-2010Description:
Large quantities of methane are exhausted to the atmosphere with coal-mine ventilation air containing very low CH4 concentration (0.1 – 1 vol.%). Apart from the environmental impact this leads to considerable energy losses. Recent studies have revealed that the large-scale implementation of the catalytic reverse flow methane combustion in this case may prove problematic in industrial applications. The objective of the project is a research of the thermal flow reversal reactor (TFRR) (non-catalytic) combustion in the installation, operating with the flow-rate of 400 m3/h of the lean air-methane mixture.
Objectives:
The goal of the project is to develop the design methods and optimization of the thermal flow reversal reactors (TFRRs) purposed for coal mine ventilation air methane utilisation.
